Two years ago I answered a call to join the Atlanta Clean Energy Board sub-committee as a leader of one of the highest utility burdened NPU’s. Did you know that residents who live north of 20 spend 4% of their income on utilities as opposed to residents south of 20 who pay 14%? Well, it is true and paying high costs for utilities has become a way of life and not soon to change unless you take action, now.
1. Our biggest problem is that we have unkind and careless people who serve on the Georgia Public Service Commission PSC. We actually pay them not to work on our behalf. So let’s change that by voting for people who want to work for us, that goes for the city council, county commission, and so forth. It is part of your citizenry, to pay taxes so that means you are a BOSS as a matter of fact you are their BOSS.
2. Have you paid attention to The Inflation Reduction Act, the act aimed at reducing inflation and how it will serve citizens to help create clean energy. Have you had a lot of solicitations for home services? Well, this is what it is all about…Service vendors are paving the concrete, blowing up our phones and mailings are filling our boxes. The dollars are in the $300 billion to retrofit homes to function efficiently and more EV Stations to power electric cars, in every city in the USA. Those funds will not be available to us until next January. As a member of the CEAB, please check with your NPU and the CEAB members that serve in your community. NPU’s H, R, S, T, X, Y and Z are the highest burdened and all have representatives who can answer all of your questions. I am the representative for NPUR and can be reached at sbrown@thrivepr.org.
3. It is IMPERATIVE to plan 90 Minutes A Month to reach out to your elected hires, attend a meeting and do your Due Diligence and find out about what your leaders are or are not doing to protect you and work effectively for you to have a better life.
This installation above can be found just outside El Paso airport in Texas. It consists of an array of 16 15-ft vertical wind turbines. Each is lit from below with LED lights. The lights can even be programmed to celebrate the seasons or other events in the area.
